Bryce Wallace is the leading character in my book 'Burying Rose' (working title). As a young, police officer, who just applied to the FBI he is determined to prove himself in the field. He handles each case with care, telling a young deputy, that 'you treat every victim like a stranger,' though he does show empathy towards victims families, he tries not to get too attached. At work he's a real hard ass, he's strict, follows the rules, and believes in justice over mercy. He's bossy, sharp-tongued, and tends to do everything by the book. 

Those who know him would be surprised to find the man in other places. He volunteers at an animal shelter, once a week. A dog there was going to die, so he took her in, and cared for her, and helped her not be afraid. He's prickly on the outside, but real soft on the inside. He loves kids, and dogs, and he loves to go for long walks with his dog on the beach. He also plays a lot of sport, and goes to church. 

But the way he sees it the police officer is an "attitude" and he has to prove he's tough, since he don't look like he is capable of much. And just because someone close to you dies or disappears, don't mean your whole life stops, though admittedly at times he does blame himself for the incident.
